I should've known today wasn't going to go well when I woke up in a dead sweat thinking about Thanksgiving.
Not that the thought of delicious food and some good Aggie football makes me sweat, but if you've read my recent blog about my ex-boyfriend, then you know why I have the ex on the mind. I've had a few dreams lately, all different scenerios of things that happen at Thanksgiving. None of them something I'd like to spend my sub-consious mind thinking about. These dreams are mostly just about one or the other of them being inappropriate.
Don't jump to conclusions, I'm not turning into the girl that wants to get back with her ex now that she's seen him with someone new. I just want to get through Thanksgiving without awkward conversations, overly lovey-dovey couples and especially without someone's cat claws coming out on me.
Now, I still don't know if either of them are coming to Thanksgiving. But if they do, I think I've already worked out worse-case scenerios A, B, C and D in my dreams (and lets be honest, how many possible outcomes could there be?). So at least the shock value won't be present, even if they are.
So today was my big, once-a-year observation. Only, when the class period came, the principal did not. So I thought I better check my email. Sure enough, about five minutes earlier I was sent an email from our head prinicipal saying the principal that was to observe me had a sudden illness and had to go to the doctor. I know she wouldn't cancel on me unless it was really something bad. So I hope she is okay.
But on the other hand, man I spent a lot of time preparing for her visit today! That sucks that she didn't get to see what all I had prepared.
One of the things I did in preparation was dressing up, even wearing high heels (professional dress is one of the things you are "judged" on). Lets get something straight, I wear heals on four occations throughout the year: the first day, open house, awards night and observation day. So I may not be used to always wearing heels, but I manage alright.
Until today, that is. I had made it all the way to after school with no incidents. I was walking down one of the short hallways that connects the longer hallways. Luckily no one was in seeing distance of the short hallway. But unfortunately, there were a couple of janitors with-in hearing distance. When I walk with these shoes down the hallway, I am pretty sure you can hear it two hallways over. THEY ARE LOUD. So when I fell down, IT WAS LOUD.
This is what the janitors heard, clank.............. clank............... clank............... clank................ clank................. CLANK. CLANK. (in true cartoon style feet flying in front of me) CLANKITY-CLANK (and finally when my ankle rolled sideways)...................................FLOP.
I almost didn't even know why I had fallen down suddenly, that is, until I got up. Then I looked down at my chocolate brown pants and noticed they had dirt, dust and gunk all over them. I had stepped into the invisible (I swear you couldn't see it) pile the janitors were making as they swept the hallway floors.
You could hear the shame as I started to walk again, clank........................................................ clank............................................................. clank.................................................................. clank. They were all watching as I turned the corner in my new slow walk. I know they heard me. They had all stopped what they were doing and looking down in my direction. How embarrassing!
Well anyways, on a positive note for today, I did come home and run 9 miles!
That totally makes up for falling, in case you were wondering.
Thanks for the comment! Yeah- I've been slacking.. Please tell me your new interest hasn't nicknamed himself :) And by the way, do you know who I'm referring to when I say DP? I BETA.. oops I mean- I bet that you do. haha
