This, That and Some Wedding Stuff

First I am going to mention how the running is going. Because right now I am a bit frustrated with my running. I wish I could call it a comedy of errors, but honestly, I'm not laughing.

On Saturday, despite my best efforts (I even wore my work-out clothes for four hours ready and prepared), but it just wasn't my day to go for a run. I was in a wedding on Saturday (which I'll get back to) and just never found the time to run like I thought I would.

Sunday, HA, that is the one and only funny part, to think I would be able to run the day after the wedding. We'll move on...

Monday was a random day off from work. I had the eye on the prize for that day to be the day of my big run. But apparently I underestimated the power of a hangover. I had one of those tricky two day ones. One where you don't feel that bad, until you get out and do some strenuous exercise. That's when your body decides to get full revenge for all of those Mimosa's, beers and Cape Cods (and then beers again until all odd hours of the night thanks to the time change).

I guess I shouldn't be so hard on myself, I did still manage to run four miles, and hills, at that.

So today was the day. The day I would finally get a long run in. Of course, I have my one and only observation from the principal tomorrow. But that wouldn't matter. I'd get all the work done I'd need to for that by four (when I can go home).

Not so much, I finally finished getting everything ready at 5:30. After my thirty minute drive home, it was already 6. It'd take me at least another 30 minutes to get changed and warmed up. That would leave me with a grand total of .....30 minutes to work out.

Thanks time change! Now I have one less hour everyday I can work out. And to make it even better, we are loosing minutes of light by the day! So frustrating. I could really do without us changing back the time from daylight savings. Although, I did appreciate having the light on my way to work. Actually, truth be told, I didn't. For one, it makes me feel like I must be running late to work (like an hour late to be exact). And second, I have to drive, at least part of the time, directly into the sun. (And this evening back into the sun...which was also nice. But hopefully not going to happen everyday.)

So anyways, now I've got one more thing to deal with as I train, little day light in which to run. But I will get it done. Don't you worry.

And now the wedding stuff. My good friend, Shannon, from high school got married this past weekend. She did have a Halloween wedding. But not one of those creepy, bride wearing black, groom wearing make-up kind of Halloween weddings. Just a regular wedding, but with the allowance of 20's themed articles of clothing.

Here's a picture of the bride and her daughter. Avery was sooooo cute walking down the isle, btw. Because she actually wouldn't do it. She got to walk down the staircase with her mommy and Bops (her Grandpa). But when it was time for her to keep going on her own, she just wasn't having it! But only the wedding party and the back couple of rows could see what was going on. So one of the bridesmaids informed Bebe (Grandma) and she quickly went down and got her. Then she walked Avery (who had her face buried in her leg) down the isle. Bebe even threw the flowers for Avery as she went! Made me tear a little seeing Bebe so serious about getting done what was supposed to be done!

When it was reception time I even got into the twenties theme. Shannon had bought us headbands with feathers to fit the theme. It was good to hang out with all our old high school friends again! Unfortunately, we never did get a picture with everyone, guys and girls. But that just means we were too busy having fun (or in my case, ruining my chances for a few days of having any sort-of run I could be proud of).

For her reception, she had The Stephen Pointer Band. They play country music, and one of the band members, Herbie, went to high school with all of us. Their band has been on the Texas Country Music Billboards lately. Plus, they dressed like an eighties rock band, tight spandex pants and all! It was great entertainment, that's for sure!

Let's just say I was going to keep it an easy night with just beer. But then the Grey Goose was brought out. Actually, it wasn't like some dramatic moment where they put it out. It was always up at the bar on display, I just hadn't noticed. But once the Grey Goose comes out, there's no turning back. I'm on the Cape Cod boat and I'm sailing for trouble!

Things wrapped up at the wedding relatively early. We were in downtown Ft. Worth. It was Halloween. So we went out downtown and met up with some of the other people from the wedding.

Of course, since the time change took effect, we had an extra hour at the bar. One more thing working again me being able to have a successful run.

And naturally; Emily, Lindsey, Lindsey's husband (Cap) and myself hadn't really had enough hanging out with each other after the wedding and the bar. So we all went back to the loft Emily and I were staying at (thanks again Nat) and had a few (or maybe a lot) more beers.

Let's just say, if at the end of the night a man cuts his finger so bad he needs seven stitch's the next day, from just opening a beer bottle; you've ALL had too much too drink.

(Natalie I swear there's no trace of that at all, never was. But you are probably missing quite a few paper towels.)

And none of you are probably going to run anywhere close to ten miles the next day. Or for a few days...
