I have about three other posts that I was thinking of posting tonight. But then I got the grandaddy of all the calls one can get. The surprise twist that I am pretty sure even the best movies and authors couldn't have conjured up for this perfect storm I'd like to call Thanksgiving 2K9.
My sister-in-law called to tell me that my ex and his girlfriend (the very same ones that will be at Thanksgiving) just found out they are pregnant.
Didn't see that one coming. I guess, to be fair, they didn't either.
And honestly, I am not bothered by this news like I thought I would be (even though I NEVER did think about this happening). I kind-of feel bad for them. I am not sure if they are ready for this in their lives and how they will be able to deal with it. I do wish them the best of luck.
And they are now planning on getting married, they just don't know when or anything yet. I am glad that I will get to knock out the three big stones that comes with ex's all at one holiday; seeing them the first time with someone else, them being engaged (though I wouldn't really call them that, but humor me) and them being pregnant. I'm just thinking of it as pulling off one big band-aid REALLY fast. And when I look at it that way, I feel better immediately. I mean, who would want to drag all that stuff out for years? Why not do this all three days from now (oh man, it's that close)?
However, this does ruin my plan to serve delicious alcoholic drinks to her to make her not hate me.
That was the ONE thing I WAS looking forward to with her being there too!
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's PREGNANT?????? Oh Jenny. Oh man. Well all I can say is you REALLY have one up on them now. That sounds kind of mean, but wow.... just wow.
ReplyDelete!!! My mouth dropped. WOW. Can't wait to see you tonight! I'll also tell you about my run-in with Funky Fresh Phil.
ReplyDeleteSays Nick, "Jenny really dodged a bullet with that guy."
ReplyDeleteLiterally the ONLY possible scenario that could heighten this story... all that's left- is if in a surprise twist, the kid turns out to be your brother's.
ReplyDeleteGross. And if that does happen Chelsea, that is when I move to a far away land.
ReplyDeleteAnd I write my novel on the Jones Family Soap Opera.
WOW! Just WOW! Can't wait to hear how this all goes.... and feeling a little guilty that I'm glad I'm not going to be the only one in misery this Thanksgiving. I think I'm going to be in need of one of your drinks!
