M.C. Hammered

This week we played M.C. Hammered. They were ranked in last place with no wins. Since it seemed like it would be an easier week we decided to step things up a notch. My roommate and I thought it would be fun to go have dinner and drinks before the game. So Jessica sent out an email to everyone on the team about El Arroyo having great happy hour prices. I wasn't aware she was going to choose that place. If you are wondering why El Arroyo would be a weird choice, that is where Tim and myself went on that date. So I responded to her email with, "good choice, it's like we're returning to the scene of the crime!" Turns out she had completely forgotten that is where we went for the date. But two dollar margaritas is a good enough deal to forget about any past experiences.

So about half of us met up at El Arroyo. Of course, when Tim showed up, the only empty chair was next to me. That is starting to be an annoying reoccurring pattern. I did fix it later though by adding an extra chair between us when Emily showed up. That's what friends are for, right?

When we showed up at the game the Virginians decided to do their part of stepping things up a notch by bringing the orange cooler filled with five gallons of pink panty dropper. I thought my days of drinking pink panty droppers was over. But it turns out the drink still lives after college, well if you play kickball for a super social league it does.

M.C. Hammered turned out to not be as easy of a win as one would've thought. Maybe its the fact that we were all loaded up on a tequila, vodka and beer combo. That could have had some effect on how we played. But they scored two runs on us early on. It took us a couple of innings before we got on the board. Then it was like we were on fire, I think we scored about 7 runs in that one inning. A few innings later we got 3 more runs. Then it came down to them getting one more turn up to kick, all we had to do was make sure they didn't score something like 6 runs and we would win. But the magic pink panty dropper must've really had it's effect on us because they scored a few more runs on us. We were starting to sweat a little bit about it getting out of hand. It seemed like it took forever, but we finally got three outs. The final score ended up being 10-7 us.

This week we decided to take a break from Doc's and go over to Will and Mark's (two of the Virginians) apartment. There we decided to play flip cup, boys vs. girls. I knew the pink stuff would be dangerous with this game, especially since I was getting more and more worried about work the next day. So I changed it over to beer and to only drinking when playing the game. I've had way too many crappy feeling Fridays lately. But I don't think I've ever seen so many people play flip-cup at the same time, I couldn't even fit all the people in the picture!

We ended up talking with the other non-kickball Virginians at the end of the night. One of the guys used to work for National Geographic and took this cool photo for us. The guy in the picture used to work for Dave Matthews! Quite the photo - need that guy taking all my photos!
We ended up leaving around midnight. Friday at work I felt better than I had in a long time. Just tired, oh, and my back hurt. I think that was due to all the hula-hoop jumping I did at field day. We are now the only holders of third place, it looks like the other two teams that shared that spot lost another game. But another successful week of kickball!
