Last night Emily, Jessica and I went to a Haunting Oboe Music show. Emily's husband is in the band and so I quite frequently go to their shows. We invited everyone from the kickball team the night before, three of the girls came. Coincidentally, their names happen to be Emily, Jessica and Jenny. So we had two of each present.
Emily was the first to show up from the kickball team. After talking to her I found out that she knew about Tim and myself going on a date! She said that last week, her and her boyfriend (also on the team) and Tim went out for drinks after the game. He apparently just casually threw out there that he had taken me out on a date. She said he didn't say much else about it. So I am probably just over thinking all this when really he is not at all concerned that it didn't work out.
Case in point, Emily further explained that while they were at the bar Tim went over to the pink team (the one where we injured that girl and had the guy with the shin guards). She said it looked an awful lot like he asked a girl from that team out on a date! I was so relieved to hear this! So maybe it doesn't have to be awkward between us because he is obviously not concerned at all.
But the show was great, as always! The venue, Mohawk, was a really cool place. They had an upstairs outdoor balcony with lounge chairs. So we went and sat up there and talked for the rest of the evening. Jessica and Jenny are training for a triathlon that is taking place next weekend, so they weren't drinking and left early. My roommate had another show to go to and Emily had to pick someone up from the airport. So all that was left was my old friend Emily and myself.
We stayed to finish our drinks but our night ended with a trip to Walgreen's. Because when else are you going to make those impulse buys and purchase things that you will eventually throw away as junk? She bought hair dye and toothpaste. I bought a pregnancy test. Not for me, but because she let it slip to me that she was a few days late and knowing that she is only a few weeks married, well I can do the math. She wouldn't buy it on her own accord, because she insisted that she wasn't pregnant. So I bought it for her. We also both ended up the new owners of a $6.50 electric toothbrush, because how could you pass up something at such a great price?
We also got to encounter a shady Walgreen's worker. He was, as my friend Shannon would say, "bald with long straight hair." But seriously, he was (though most would say balding, not bald). The top of his head was bald but he did some sort-of comb over to try to cover it up with the long hair that was on the side and down to his shoulders. It was probably the grossest look I've seen since Dateline's "To Catch a Predator." As we were shopping for the right color hair dye he appeared, out of nowhere, behind us and scared us. Then, he randomly walked by as we were shopping in the "As Seen on TV" section (why you don't shop after the bar- I never even knew they had that section until then). When we went to check out he opened a new line, magically when it was our turn. Then he creepily complimented her on Emily's hair (remember he knew she was buying hair dye). But didn't compliment me on anything (and he also saw me with the pregnancy test). Then he asked since we were dressed up, were we going out? No, no, we already did that. We're old and we are going home.
After a few (or maybe a dozen) taco cabana tortillas and one pee on a stick, it was official, Emily is not pregnant. So maybe no kid yet, but at least we are the proud owners of some sweet electronic toothbrushes!
