If you want to know the truth, what mostly got in my way was Emily (if you remember as far back as this blog, then you remember she was going through a divorce and moving) living just steps from me. We decided right off to just eat every week-night dinner together to save money and for the company. And that's what we've been doing, and it's been great! She should be a chef, seriously! She is great at cooking! Anyone that can get me to like chicken is high on my book! We've enjoyed many a meal, television shows, conversations and maybe a few drinks along the way! :)
We have a system that works for us, she cooks dinner, I sometimes help (she rarely lets me) and I clean. It works great for us!
But along the way it ate up (not to be literal) my time for blogging. I also haven't had much to blog about. But there's been a few things to write about since I last blogged, here's what's been going on:
- I went to Dallas for Cooper Charles' Sip and See. Cooper is Casey Charles' baby, she is a sorority sister and former roommate from college. Really the trip could be summed up by Chelsea's blog on it which could be found here.
- I went to Houston to visit family and to go to Caraline Frost's First Birthday. Caraline is my good friend Jill's (sorority sister and roommate from college) daughter. I had a great time. We went St. Arnold's Brewery. I found out another good friend from college, Erin Nowak, is pregnant! I am so excited!!!
- Found out another friend is pregnant, Chelsea Salomone (see blog above). I am so excited for her too! Two great friends, and two great mom's-to-be!!!
- I turned down the offer to attend the University of Illinois. It was a sad moment for me. I had hoped, dreamed and prayed for so long that I would get accepted. But the financial crisis hit teachers and I saw so many great people around me lose jobs, I just couldn't justify going. I HONESTLY had my mind made up and I was going, but I just was so unsettled about it and after asking several peoples advice, I heard nothing but don't go from the people that mattered the most. Including my Academic Advisor at IU, which was where I really put the breaks on the whole move. I have more sensible back-up plans, given the economic times, I will just have to wait to see what fits me best.
- The test results for TAKS came back, I am not sure I ever mentioned it (and I am too lazy to look it up now), but I helped tutor during school hours a lot of struggling students for this test. And most of the students I worked with for a longer period passed! Some of these kiddos didn't pass a single other test or would have been on my "not going to pass list," had I had to make one, but they still pulled it out in the end! A few didn't pass that I thought should have, and that was a bit hard to process. But overall, they did great and overall our school's 8th grade TAKS scores went up 3% (which doesn't, by any means, all have to do with me). But this is great for my school!!!
- The school year ended. Thank goodness! This has not been my best group (not my worst either). And my homeroom didn't win field day this year. :(
- The rest of the time was spent doing very uneventful things. Hence, why I haven't blogged!
And there you have it. I will be back with more...
I never in my life would have dreamed that Jenny Jones would sum up two months worth of life in bullet points.
