BC #3: My Favorite Things & My Giveaway

(If I may begin with a side note, this is my THIRD time to type and try to post this! I can assure you this was going to be on time last night had blogspot decided to play nice.)

In preparation of today's favorite things, I watched an Oprah re-run today. I haven't watched Oprah all summer, but I did today solely for blog research.

Well, after all of five seconds of watching the show I was crying over some guy proposing to some girl on the show... not exactly what I hoped to gain from the experience.

But I did gain the want to giveaway something after watching the show... but we'll get to that later.

Here's my favorite things:

1. Scentsy- I neither sell nor want to sell the product (nor need someone to sell me it, I have my "dealer" and two back-ups already). So have no fear, there is no alternative motives here. But I LOVE the product! I love that I can enjoy one scent for five minutes or five weeks and not have to spend a fortune on the next scent. And, don't judge, but I may have stocked up for the summer and have this ridiculous stash of scents because I was fearful that I would have a break-down if I didn't have enough scents this summer.

2. P90X- My sister-in-law, Jennifer, got me hooked on this. She has it (is looking great!), I tried it, and now I own it too. As long as you aren't asking my opinion on it the very moment I am doing it, I love it! While I am doing it, I might be cursing it's existence. But no pain, no gain, right?!?

3. Saga of a Texas Ranger- This is a book written by a teacher at my school, Jeffrey Robenalt. If that wasn't the case, I doubt I would have ever picked it up (just not my type of book). But I love it regardless of knowing the author or the subject matter! He takes true Texas events experienced by Texas Rangers (starting with the Great Comanche Raid) and just made a fictional character and a story (and a love story) around those events. My grades in Texas History in middle school and college would have been much different had I had books like this to read about them! I am not done with this book (yet), and it's a saga, so it's only the first one of four (the second is going to be released sometime this summer). But I like what I am reading so far!
(Oh... and it's available on amazon.com, in hardback or for your Kindle, in case you are interested.)

(Oh, OH... and I am not making a cent or any sort-of gain from mentioning this, much like scentsy, I just like them THAT much.)

4. Tito's Vodka and Topo Chico- I've mentioned these before on my blog. But it's seriously the best drink ever, everyone I introduce it to LOVES it. Topo Chico is just a mineral water that is imported from Mexico, I can find it at a lot of places, but the "twist of lime" version is hard to come by consistently. Tito's is made in Austin and frequently wins awards for how good it is (says the label they've placed on thebottle, which means it must be the best, haha).

5. My Jam- I seriously love my jam! And either my best friend, brother, sister-in-law, roommate, her boyfriend, and her mom are all lying to me- or this is some good jam!!! I have eaten it everyday I've been home since I've made it, and I am not tired of it yet!
Which brings me to the giveaway... MY JAM!!!

Next Thursday morning... I am either going to give away the jar pictured above (which may not happen because those don't last long around here) or you will get the newest jar off the production line. AND, you will get your choice of with Chia Seeds or without (and if you are confused here, read my BC #1).

I know this isn't some fancy product that is manufactured and sold at a reputable website or store. SOOOOO.... I am not going to make it very hard. All you have to do is make a comment on this post about how you want to try "Jenny's Jam."

AND... because I have now typed this blog entry THREE TIMES and have come up with a new idea, I have a bonus entry into the drawing, if you are so inclined. Give a fact about the television show where the lady makes jam as her "plan" to get over her ex-boyfriend. No piggy backing here- I realize one person is going to get the name of the television show and then everyone else could copy, BUT NO! After that has been taken, tell me something else that happens during that particular episode (names of people doing things, plot points, etc.) correctly and first, and I will enter you in the drawing twice. BUT, no more than TWICE, so don't just recite the whole episode in hopes of more entries.

(Though, I know I am WAY over thinking people's excitement for my jam to think that anyone would go that far to further their chances to win the jam.)

(OH... and no need to point out the fact that once a few things are pointed out about the episode, that google could take care of the rest. If someone cares that badly for the jam to go that far, then I WANT them to have two entries into the jam drawing.)

So now you've got the "plan," now go request some JAM!!!

  1. I want your jam...and my sister SERIOUSLY stalked you out and wants to know what recipe you use. Is there any way I can get that from you or is it a secret?

  3. I want to try Jenny Jam! Go on and throw in the Chia Seeds... I like to live on the edge. :) But if I poop a Chia Pet, I'm holding you responsible, Jones! :) I have no clue what the TV show is where the chick is making jam to get over her ex, but pondering this made me think of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes... and how they served up that ex boyfriend BBQ in their restaurant. You have not gone and done anything illegal have you , Jones? :)

  5. Hi Jenny, I came over to your blog from Chelsea's blog. Oh! and I've also joined in on your Blog Challenge. Since no one has taken a guess on the TV show. It was Monica on Friends and she was getting over Tom Selleck (forgot his name on it) Joey loved the jam. That is all I remember. Am I right? So, since I'm the only one to have guessed, so far, do I win? lol

  6. First things first, Yes Olga, you have it all right! But others don't be discouraged, there is more that happens in the episode - keep throwing things out there so you too can get a second entry into the drawing! And sorry Olga- that only merits you two entries, rules are rules, but I am cheering for you!

Second, Brooke I said it was not secret and could be found by googling it, so I totally don't mind sharing it! I did not come up with something new and special (except the Chia Seeds part). But here's the website I use http://www.pickyourown.org/jam.htm. But those are the instructions for regular jam with sugar, if you scroll down to step 5 it has a link for jam with "no added sugar." In those directions you will find out how to use honey instead. However, those instructions are not as great as the original, so you have to kinda flip back and forth because it leaves stuff out (like when to add the lemon juice). If adding Chia Seeds, I just add them at the very end bc that way I can make some without and with them. Hope this helps!
