Then I went back to school and one of my fellow teachers said she was now selling Advocare vitamins.
Lastly, I used to take SOME Advocare vitamins in college. I remember really liking them.
Mix this all together, plus a couple of rather lengthy chats with a very convincing Advocare salesman and the fact that I am training for a half marathon and needing SOME supplements, you get this.
Actually I forgot to put a few of the products into the picture. So there's more!
Even though I am usually not a big fan of this kind of stuff, I am really excited about all of this! I am glad I am getting a healthy well-balanced daily routine. Not only will I be getting all the vitamins I need, maybe didn't need, and possibly don't need; but there is even more than that. It gives you energy, replaces meals and even suppresses your appetite. They even provide you with a plan of what foods to eat everyday (all very healthy stuff that everyone should strive towards eating everyday anyways).
Now, all that being said, lets not forget I REALLY DO like and want to do all this. But lets play devil's advocate for a bit, just to put a little humor to the situation.
First, that is A LOT of stuff. So much that I have had to wake up an extra thirty minutes earlier each morning just to have the time to take care of my new morning routine. Not even kidding about that. First I have to make this 8 ounce energy drink and take two vitamins. Thirty minutes after I've finished the drink I have to make an 8 ounce fiber drink. After I finish the fiber drink I have to IMMEDIATELY drink at least 8 ounces of water. Lastly, I make a 10 ounce meal replacement shake (that I am not even hungry for nor in the mood for since I've already spent every waking moment trying to chug some drink down). Then it takes extra time to prepare my lunch, which is healthier and more time consuming from my old lunch I would prepare.
Let's address the food they suggest I eat for a moment. First, it is high on proteins and vegetables. If you've been reading my blog for a while, somewhere in the past I know I mentioned I rarely eat meat. So the protein thing is a bit hard for me. I went to the grocery store the other day and it was like I had never bought meat before (I really only eat it when I'm out or it's already in a frozen dinner or something). But I couldn't even remember how to buy chicken, I stood in that section for what felt like forever. I finally remembered that my favorite to buy was boneless, skinless fillets. When I thought about just eating unseasoned chicken it took some serious thought as to where one would pick up some seasoning or marinade in the grocery store.
Then I got to the seafood section. I've cooked tuna like it's nobodies business, but it's expensive. Salmon just doesn't sound appealing to me anymore. So I decided to try tilapia. I realized I had no clue how to cook it since I never have before. Luckily, between the recipe I found on the back of a package of frozen tilapia and the directions for actually fully (and yet not over) cooking the tilapia on the actual package of fresh tilapia, I did end up with something tasty.
Right now I am just in the cleansing phase. So the real vitamins haven't even kicked in yet. Besides the awful morning routine, I take five pills before bed. But once the real fun begins, I've counted that on a good day, I'll be taking 22 pills. That's not counting any of the drinks (which will be less than I am having to drink right now) that also contain vitamins.
But like I said, I really am liking this whole thing. It does look like this is going to be a healthy lifestyle change to my life.
But I am pretty sure my doctor would've been happy with about 21 less vitamins. But doesn't the saying go, "If one's good, twenty-two's better!"
No?
Well, I think I can say twenty-two is better than none.
I hope your better at this vitamin adventure..... I have to admit, I have started something like this many times. I always start out strong and sleep always wins. I have a medicine cabinet full of such endeavors.
ReplyDeleteHere is a quick and yummy recipe for talapia:
• Lay your fish in a big piece of aluminum foil.
• Spray it with a little I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.
• Add come Cajun Seasoning. I like Slap Ya Mama! :) http://www.slapyamama.com/
• Wrap up your foil and pop it in the oven.
You can thaw a few pieces of frozen shrimp and toss it in with your fish... SOOOOO Good. Slap Ya Mama Good! :)
I have another good tilapia recipe for you:
ReplyDeletePut fish on shallow baking pan
Rub with a little bit of olive oil
Sprinkle with a little bit of sea salt (or Kosher salt)
Top with fresh cilantro and fresh sliced jalapenos (the fresh ones, not a jar)
Cook at 350 for about 15 minutes, or until flaky. It's good- we make it often!
Sounds fun with all of the vitamins- good luck!
Thanks guys for the great recipes! I will definitely try them out soon!!!
