One Great Weekend!!!

Friday night, as you may know from my last blog, was not anything eventful. But staying in did allow me to catch up on my favorite shows via DVR. I watch about five television shows regularly, and three of those come on at 8 on Thursdays. FANTASTIC. I guess there are worse things in life than three of your favorite shows coming on at the same time...but it is inconvenient.

On Saturday I woke up at 7 and did go for that run. Let me just say that on Wednesday of last week I had planned to run 5 miles on Saturday. Then I ended up running 4.5 miles on Thursday, so I decided I should bump up my goal for Saturday to 6 miles. When Saturday rolled around (nice and early mind you) I decided to start off the run with running the hills course I know. Because the hills were what killed me on the last half marathon. But I hadn't run this hill course in awhile and forgot that it was four miles instead of three. The shortest loop I could run after that was three miles. My plan mid-run was to finish the 6 miles and walk the last mile.

To my surprise, not only did I run the hill course with ease (Well lets say with slight discomfort...hills will never be easy. But my great success must be due to my apartment complex having some small inclines that I run regularly, thank you apartments for benefiting my training.) But when I reached 6 miles, I wasn't totally wiped, in fact, I felt like I could keep running. So I did. And I ended up running 7 miles! That is just the boost I need to get my training back on track!
What's even better is I never got sore from the run, not even the next day! So either the strength training I've been doing has been working or the vitamins (and their amino acids in particular) are doing wonders for my training.
By 10 am Emily came over to my house with breakfast and mimosas (or MY-mosas, as I like to call them. Not on purpose. I just, no matter how hard I've tried, can't pronounce it mimosa's.). By 11:30 we were on our way to Kyle to watch the Texas/OU game with friends from drill team in high school. Just recently, Sommer, who was a year older than us, moved back to Texas. And of all places Kyle, which is maybe 15 minutes down the road from me. She also invited Alyssa, who was also a year older and a friend of ours, to her football watching party. She lives in North Austin! Here's Emily, Alyssa, myself and Sommer.

We had a great time watching the game and catching up! It so good when you find more people that you like hanging out with that live close to you. I have a feeling we will all hang out again soon!

For part three of my Saturday, I changed the pace up quite a bit and went on a date. Now there is something I haven't been blogging about. Former interest and I ran into each other a few weeks ago. We made amends (not that we had been fighting, but since the last date we hadn't really talked) and he told me how much he missed me. Which made me realize I really did miss him. Last weekend we weren't able to hang out due to my brother being in town. We talked on Friday night and made plans to go to the movies on Saturday.

We agreed we both wanted to go see "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Zombieland." I broke the tie with going to see "Zombieland." I've been trying to convince people to go see it with me for some time.

The thought was on the back of my mind, would he pay this time? I have gotten the vibe like he's felt bad about us going dutch on the last date. This was his chance to try to make it right. And I can happily say, that he did. He paid for both of our tickets with no hesitation. He even asked if I wanted any snacks (which I did not).

About the movie, I really am not a fan of scary movies. But "Zombieland" I knew wasn't supposed to be that scary, just more of a comedy. But that didn't stop the previews from being scary. I had the death grip on current interests arm very quickly! At one moment in the previews I jumped so bad the people behind me were laughing at me (can't be 100% sure about that, but I don't see what else they could've been laughing at).

The movie itself was not THAT scary. It was actually really good and I would definitely see it again and would recommend others go see it. It was just soooooo different from most other movies that typically follow very typical story lines. Like former interest said, "it was a breath of fresh air."

I really had a great time with him. I think every time we get over these little issues we come back as a better couple. It seems like now I can feel that there is a true connection between us. Hopefully, my ignoring all these little issues that have come along the way will turn out to be a good decision. Time will have to tell...

But one thing that I want to add that I think is kinda coincidental. Remember how after the last date I said that unless he ends up rescuing puppies over the holidays that I wouldn't pursue that relationship anymore? Well he may not be an animal rescuer, but I did find out that his parents are big advocates for helping to fight the AIDS crisis in Africa. They were even recently living there for this cause. I'd say that's close enough to rescuing puppies to rule that he's not that bad of a guy!

I'd say, with all of this, this past weekend was a great weekend!

(This revelation of course omits the outcome of the Aggie game. I'm not even going to get into that. That would just ruin such a great weekend. I think Chelsea said it best with WHOOPS.)

I hope y'all had a great weekend as well!
