Too Much Fun

Actually, I don't think there is such a thing as too much fun.  But I have reached, for the first time in my life, a point this summer where I am starting to feel guilty about all the fun things I am doing.  But I guess somewhere in September to November when I am ready to pull my hair out over all the overwhelming things I have to do and the attitudes I am getting from bratty children, I will not feel so bad about all this fun I am having at this moment.

Anyways, before I start my next stage of summer, the actual "vacation" stage, let me update you on what I've done for the past few days.

Last Thursday I floated the river with work friends.  It was a great time, I just wish we had reached the day and age that digital cameras were waterproof so I could document some of it for you.  And I am not about to go backwards in technology and buy one of those underwater disposable cameras.

(I am not sure if I know how to take that to the place and get it developed anymore, kinda like how I didn't remember how to get money from an actual teller the other day when I went to the bank.)

But this particular section of the San Marcos River is just so peaceful and so beautiful.  I LOVE being out there!  It was a long float, so we packed lunches and stopped along the river and ate our sandwiches and chips while kayakers jealously rowed by.  We temporarily posted up at a swimming hole and watched the kids jump into the river.  We watched a crane fish only about 15 feet from us.  And we witnessed a good sized snake perched on a branch sunbathing.

Oh wait, you maybe that last one wasn't so peaceful.

But that is why I have a bottom to my tube, because I feel that plastic net is a good enough barrier between me and any snakes I might encounter.

On Friday I met up with my college friends, or "IKPi," as we like to call ourselves, at a lake house and we enjoyed a peaceful and fun weekend together.  And because when I am in situations where I have not just one, but two, cameras that WAY trump my dinky one, I choose not to take pictures with mine.  But rather steal them from the others with nice cameras.  And because I have to get up rather early tomorrow to continue onto my next adventure, I am not going to steal many.

(And if you are dying to see the rest of where these pictures came from and to hear more of a story from the lake, you are welcomed to visit Chelsea's blog, because she documented it pretty well.)

I wish I had more time to write about this last weekend, but really, it was mostly just about us hanging out.  Nothing too big or crazy to report, which is nice, it means we had a good relaxing weekend!

But for now, I MUST go to sleep.  I am leaving for a cruise in the morning and I thought I had taken care of everything I needed to today, but apparently, there is a difference between sunscreen and sunblock and I have the wrong one (AND not enough of the wrong one anyways), it was suggested that I switch the entire contents of two of my already packed suitcases (long story) and there are now several plans that need to be taken care of for my next vacation (which begins 1.5 days after the cruise commences).

But I can hear the Daiquiri's calling my name already from the ship...

So, Bon Voyage friends!!!

  1. The river float sounds amazing right now. It's starting to get really hot here and being in the water is the only way to go. Have fun on your cruise.. sounds amazing! I would normally be jealous, but Phil and I are headed to Philadelphia tonight for the U2 concert! I'm crossing one off the bucket list! So pumped!
