Paul McCartney Concert

Two months ago I went to the Paul McCartney concert in Austin.  I've been lucky to have gone to many concerts in my life, but this one was hands down the best one I've been to and may ever go to.

I was fortunate enough to get from a family member seats in the 10th row and back stage passes.  As crazy as this might sound, we had a hard time finding people that COULD go (but many that wanted to and would go!) because it was a Thursday night in Austin (and everyone else offered the tickets at first didn't live in Austin).  We were offered three tickets for my brother, sister-in-law and myself.  But they were in the process of moving to California and couldn't go.  After a total of five different people were offered, I found some takers.  Two good friends from work, Melissa and Danna.  I know everyone the tickets were offered to would have been perfect for this concert, but I was especially happy with these two because I know they appreciate music and the Beatles!

Our giddiness after getting our backstage passes!

Now backstage doesn't mean you meet Paul McCartney, always anyway.  In fact, there was a poster on the wall backstage and there were a variety of about 12 different VIP passes and where each was to go and allowed to go or not.  Our room did have free drinks and was full of family/friends of the band. I knew when I was in that room that I wished I could know who else was in that room because I was sure there were some well-known people there.  But thanks to Danna's powerful hearing, we did find out that one of the girls in there was Gram Parson's (google him, I had no idea either) now adult daughter.

And we did get to have a meet-and-greet with the band.  Although, it was more greet than meet because, even in my own case, it was saying hello to the band member you already know.  My cousin's (Suzanne) boyfriend, Abe came and visited with us.  I am telling you, every time I have been with this guy he is the nicest guy and the last one you would believe to be the drummer for Paul McCartney's band.  He never acts like he is more important or special, he is just a friendly guy that always has a smile on his face!

And here I thought going into this that the backstage part would be the highlight, little did I know what kind of concert they put on!  I know 10th row has a greater impact versus the nose bleeds, but I am telling you, I think it was still a great concert no matter what seat you were in!  Now that being said, being able to see with your own eyes Paul's facial expressions does only kick things up a notch!  I took a ton of pictures and some short videos (and let me tell you, objects are much bigger than they appear in the pictures/video!!!).  I whittled it down to this...

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

Live And Let Die (and despite the appearance that it is all far away, the pyrotechnics felt close enough to decide if my eye brows would live or let die)

End of the show

That was actually not the grand finally, there was more pyrotechnics and some ticker tape and more general awesomness.  But my camera/phone ran out of space, which was for the best because then I just actually got to sit back and enjoy it!!!
