Well I certainly didn't set out today with the intentions of having a three hour tour.
But see, what happened was...
I got a letter in the mail a couple of weeks ago saying that two different things had been recalled on my car. So I immediately set up an appointment with my car dealership to have my car fixed of these problems on Monday of Spring Break, which would be today.
So I got there and the guy told me it would only be about an hour and a half to fix, so I said no big deal, I will wait in the lounge during that time and I handed over my keys.
Then he came and found me in the lounge and said it looks like there are actually FOUR parts to my car that have been recalled and that it would take longer so they'd shuttle me home.
Okay, so I knew getting on this shuttle that I would be the farthest traveling person, since the dealership is in North Austin and I live in South Austin. So after an hour ride of dropping everyone else off across Austin, we arrived at my place that was WAY out of the way.
We pulled up at my apartments gate and I went to get my keys and go, "oh yeah, I don't have my keys, so I can't open the gate."
Then it dawned on me. I DIDN'T HAVE MY KEYS TO GET IN MY HOUSE EITHER.
They were back at the dealership. With my car. On the keychain I had handed over with ALL the keys on it thinking I wouldn't need them because I would be staying at the dealership the whole time while my car got fixed.
I hoped I would be lucky and my roommate would be home, but I am not that lucky.
So I had ride with the driver BACK to the dealership to get my keys. He wasn't mad, he said this happens a lot actually (so why doesn't someone make it a habit to remind people to check that they have the keys they need???).
And I said, "yeah, but I bet I am the farthest living person that has done this."
He responded, "Well yes you are."
"But you are not the most inconvenient." Once a lady (that only lives a couple streets north of me) forgot her garage door opener. So they went back to get it to only find that the door inside the garage was locked to, and she didn't have that key. So they went back a third time where she finally got in.
I can at least say I am glad I am not as dumb as THAT lady.
But after we went back we picked up some more people and took all of them home first (because I do live far from this place, but some of them lived far, just in different directions). By the end of it, I think we drove on all the major roads of Austin and threw all parts of Austin (some of the most gorgeous parts too). And by the time I finally got home, I had been in that car driving around Austin for THREE HOURS.
Uh...so glad to be home. And I am so dreading the moment that guy has to drive all the way out here for the THIRD time to come and get me...
